Where do I get good local food ?

we are asked all the time. Local localfood ?
Where do the Grenadians go ?

There's a number of answers to that one.
Anywhere serves fish.
Everyone (well, nearly everyone ) has callaloo soup. You can find fish broth or 'oil down at a number of places, possibly being cooked on the beach. But if you want a real sampling of basic, varied Grenadian cuisine, try buffet night at Island View.

Island View is about a 15 minute drive from the hotel belt, on the south coast, in the little settlement of Woburn.
The ' view in question is of Hog and Calivigny islands, the goal of many sailing trips. The restaurant gets a lot of its customers from yacht owners and crews that anchor at these islands.

The last Saturday in the month is buffet night.
Come along for the real thing.
You do not always get the same spread, but you usually find fish & chicken (the Grenadian staples), lambie (conch), yam pie, macaroni pie, plantain, breadfruit in some (dis) guise, callaloo (of course), and a range of salads.

Nothing is too extreme or exotic to put off conservative tastes: it is good, solid, real thing cooking, and plenty of it, and at a very reasonable price.

On other nights, you get the same quality and authenticity from an a la carte menu. There is a daily takeaway lunch delivery service to the Grand Anse and St. George's areas. There is also Friday and Saturday night live entertainment.

Service is friendly and efficient, there is a well-stocked bar, and the place is spotlessly clean. It's well worth a visit.
