Thanks to two public holidays,we had an extra long weekend and decided to spend it in Carriacou away from the incessant ringing of the phone and all the everyday STRESS, (it also coincided with the Carriacou hash). For those of you who think we are on permanent vacation here, this may come as a shock ;-).
|
Anyway, we decided to rent a villa for a few days, and were quite pleasantly surprised by what we found. Of course, this made it a good excuse to have it as this months tip, just in case one of our readers decides that this is what they are looking for, for that romantic getaway.
The name of the place? Pelican Villa (And before anyone asks, yes there were pelicans along the shore):

The House
|
|
The house itself is arranged on two levels. The main floor upstairs has 2 double bedrooms inter-connecting through a large bathroom.
The master bedroom has a double bed.
Second bedroom has twin beds and double doors opening onto the wrap-around veranda. Bedrooms and bathrooms are fully screened.
Large living room opens onto the wrap-around veranda.
Kitchen is part of the living area with full stove and fridge/freezer.
Downstairs is a self-contained apartment with an air conditioned bedroom , twin beds and ensuite bathroom and a large open plan living/kitchen area which opens up on 2 sides to a spacious covered veranda.
There is also a picturesque little pool to the back of the villa, with an perfect BBQ setting for anyone wishing to burn dinner (or at least mildly singe it).

Just 2 minutes walk to a beautiful deserted beach (no, it wasn't deserted just because we were there), which is perfect for snorkeling.

 |
The house is well kept, spotless clean and the furniture is very comfortable, you will even find a wide selection of books and Games for the whole family. The prices are reasonable when compared to villas here in Grenada, and the icing on the cake is that the property is off the beaten track, so there was no interruption for that necessary after meal siesta.

If you happen to visit, make sure to mention where you heard about it (hopefully we'll get a discount the next time we rent it :-)

Contact & Agency:
|
The agency in charge is Down Island Ltd. and we can highly recommend them.
As soon we reached Hillsborough with the ferry, Osprey Express, we got picked up from the taxi driver Linky, who was real friendly & pleasant. He drove us to the villa, where Angie the maid was waiting for us to show us around and explaining all the necessary items. Later that day Carol from Down island called us to find out if everything is ok and that if we needed anything we should not hesitate to call her. (Our transfers were included in the price)
I would just like to say that the house, pool and the garden was in an absolute great shape, and that just tells me how good the agency takes care of their villas, but unfortunately not all Villa agencies are alike.
